| :!::!::!::!::!::!::!::!::!::!::!::!: | Once I got that working I decided to look for the site I once used to stop all ads in oh my host and in my firewalls. [[https://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm]] will take you to a great piece of free work for the last 20 years that takes all ad, cookie, and other intrusive sites they find and adds them to a file to download. I am going to add it too and see what it does for my browsing. |

| OK I couldn't be so wrong. Once I did the old simple fix of just adding something to my local /etc/hosts file thinking applications would do what I expected them to, I went back to Firefox and tried access reddit again. Guess what it was permitted. I then remembered Firefox had gone the way of Chrome and enabled DNS over HTTPS (DoH) by default. Going into the Firefox Settings and turning this off, then restarting my browser still did not work. I also tried some of the about:config network.dns settings as a fix and none of them worked either. | |

| I held out long enough with firefox and stayed with them when I thought I was getting a bit more privacy than Google Chrome. This is not the case and I have now switched to LibreWolf as my default browser. I will keep Firefox installed while I transition but it really makes me sad the browser I have used and recommended forever has done this to me. | |
